A Productive Weekend

This weekend we went to Seattle for brunch at Salty's....YUM!
We met Bonnie, Josh and Rian! (Rian is such a doll!)

It was a beautiful non-rainy day!

And...I scrapped like mad:

March Madness

Wow, I can't believe how much of a blog procrastinator I am! It seems we have been so busy, yet I can't think of what to write here! How is that? Does that mean we have been busy doing unimportant things? You be the judge.
We took our dogs on a really long walk 2 weeks ago when we had a really nice (read: sunny but cold) Friday. They were sore for 3 days afterwards! A two hr walk was a big change from the 20-min nightly walk in the dark that they usually get! Plus, they loved seeing & sociallizing with other dogs!

I haven't been scrapbooking much lately...I've felt an need to get "prepared". It is a bit last minute if you ask me, buy looking at the world around us! So, we spent several weekend making sure our 72-hr kits are ready, then beefing up our food storage!

It feels so good to be more prepared!

Finally, I whipped out a few scrapbook layouts with my Cocoa Daisy March kit:

Enjoy!

Picture tag

Stephanie tagged anyone who wanted to do this so:

What you're supposed to do is go to the 6th folder on your computer and pick the 6th picture.

Since I am posting from Dave's computer rather than my lap top, this is a rather old...2007-ish picture of my neice Chloe at ballet class!

So, I tag her mom: CArlen!

Let's see what you've got!

Still playing catch-up

I can't believe how often I know I need to update this blog, and I intentionally avoid it. what does that say about me?
I thought I'd do a brief post updating what's been going on for the last 2 weeks:
1) We spent a fun 4 day weekend in AZ where we got in one day of pool time before it rained.
2) We had a yummy V-day dinner at Shaun & Darcy's
3) I've been scrapbooking...both original and digital. (LOVE the CM Storybook 2 software!)
4) My brother got married in Las Vegas! Congrats to Mark and Christina!
5) I'm loving the TNT show 'Leverage'
6) Still loving the Mentalist, LOST, and 24.
7) I got my organizational goal for January done...now to start & finish February's in the next 7 days. (Yeah, right).
8) I had a fun day playing with Dave today. We drove to Mt. Vernon. What a beautiful day!
9) I've been reading lots!
10) I had a fun late-birthday lunch with my sisters who got me the cutest gift basket!
I'll post pictures soon!

Finally we saw a movie that had two really great lines:
"Character is something best retained than retreived".
"Sometimes, a man meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it."
(the movie: The International)

Neglected....

Our blog is totally neglected too...(I just totally stole Laura's title...Luv ya!)
So I thought I'd do a short recap of what we'd been up to lately:

-I had the worst work day of my career (ok, I might be exaggerating a little- but it was BAD) on Monday. When I came home from work Dave had drawn me a bath, lit candles around it and had my favorite scrapbooking magazines laid out by the tub. What a total sweetheart! He's a keeper!

-We are leaving for a long weekend in AZ again this weekend....looks like it might rain there though. ;(

-We had an awesome fun Superbowl party at our house last Sunday....even though our team lost to the STEALers. (AND, I had to work until 6pm)

-Next week I am on vacation from work....and let me tell you, I am SO ready!

-My organizational goal for January was to clean out and organize the closet in Dave's den...oops. Now I guess I'll need to do it this next week....along with Feb's goal.

-Yesterday was Kerry's birthday! Happy birthday Bro!

-Today is Mark's birthday! Happy Birthday to my other Bro!

-Jarom is going to dog sit/housesit for us while we are away. Thank goodness for that Bro too!

-Michael is waiting for MRI results on the possible return of his fatty cell foot cancer...Sad for that Bro. Love ya!

-I have such a great family!

-Cami & Cosette miss Mike...(he's my Bro-in-law). You guys need to come play with me next week! Love ya Sis!

-Carlen's kids get to make Valentine's cookies with me on Wednesday...then we'll go see Tanner's play! YAY!

-Mom is waiting patiently for me to come paint her picture wall. Anyone good at painting that wants to help?

-Today I don't work until noon and I need to do some laundry to have clean clothes to pack.

-Dave got some cool new boots at Nordstrom, and I got a cute shirt.

-We LOVE the movie TAKEN. It is Awesome!

Dave meets his waterskii Idols!

Ok, ever since I have known Dave he's been WAY into waterskiing. He loves it. He will go any chance he can get. And EVERY January he looks forward to the Big Seattle Boat Show. That is about the only thing he looks forward to in January....gearing up for boating season. Especially since I graduated from Pharmacy School and his reward for putting me through was a competition ski boat. Even before he owned a boat though, through all of our married years he has owned his own waterski. It's his baby. He's had two over our 17 & 1/2 years of marriage. Even when we were poor college students he forked out $700.00 for a top of the line ski.
Well...after tonight at the boat show, make that count 3. Yes, he splurged and cashed in this year's valentines present, birthday present, and anniversary present credits for a new, better ski. Why? Mostly because he wanted it...I could see it in his puppy dog eyes. But it really helped that his ALL TIME favorite waterski idol WADE COX was there, at the booth we were at, and when he saw Dave was looking at that ski, he came over and was talking to Dave and telling him why it was such an awesome ski. (something about the way it is engineered for more stability, yet more power through the curves....blah, blah, blah...lol). Basically Dave was thinking: "You had me at Hola". He was in HEAVEN! Then when he got to shoot the breeze with Marcus Brown too....(another waterskiing hero)...AND they autographed his new ski.....? PRICELESS.
Definately $$ well spent as far as I'm concerned. Check out the face on Dave:

Cool huh?

I have been busy again...

This is what makes me happy...documenting life. Creating. Sharing. It brings me Joy.
And that's what it's all about.
Dave and I are off to the boat show tonight....fun!

I found my mojo!

Thanks for all the nice comments yesterday. I did find Joy, it came with my scrapbooking mojo. It also kept me up until 2:30 am. We didn't see the movie last night, instead we went to Black Angus with Darcy & Shaun. Nothing like a Fillet Minion & some garlic mashed potatos to chear me up! It was fun! THEN I stayed up way too late scrapbooking. But I accomplished a lot!

On a happier note....

Love this family!

Joy....remember that?

Um yeah.
I'm having a tougher time with that than I thought I would. Lately everyone's sarcasm, gossip, and DRAMA are really getting to me. I shouldn't let it. I really try.
But when I call a friend, I'd like to feel uplifted...not brushed off.
When I read friend's blogs I'd like to smile instead of feel slighted or excluded.
I know it's me. It's got to just be MY perception of things.
I know this.
I AM trying. Really.
Now, my favorite scrapbooking magazine is stopping production....What?!?!
Sorry, I am just not joyful today.
Really I should not even post this because it certainly won't uplift anyone else.
It's a good thing I have a husband who can make me laugh.
Too bad it's still 5 & 1/2 hours until he gets home. :(

Maybe seeing "Mall Cop" tonight with Dave will help. I hope so.
over and out.

One Little Word

Joy

In 2009 I want to focus on those things that bring me, and others through me, JOY.

By spending more time with the ones that I love.

By choosing to be around those friends that make me a better person.

By doing more of the things that bring me joy.

By sharing of myself through service and love to bring joy to others.

By implementing processes and routines in my everyday life that help simplify & organize...that brings me joy.
Here are some holiday pictures that brought me joy this last Christmas season:
